Crete
and particularly Rethymnon
invites the visitor to not only enjoy the
sea and the infrastructure of organised tourist
resorts, but also to explore the multifarious
beauties of the countryside and the mountains.
A few of the most distinctive and sensational
walking tours are:
- Kallikratis - Argyroupoli: Approx. 5 hours (16 km)
- Argyroupoli - Angouseliana: Approx. 8 hours (23 km) - easy to walk
- Spili - Gerakari: Approx. 8 hours (18,5 km) - across Mount Kedros, generally easy but with a few diffculties
- Refuge of Toumpotos Prinos - Nida
Plateau: Reach The Refuge of Toumpotos either on foot from Fourfouras (4 hours walk) or by
car from the village of Kouroutes.
The route to the Nida Plateau is 14km and is fairly difficult due
to the height.
